ENIGMA helps a smooth vessel guidance

Ghent Port Company’s Harbour Master’s Office guides shipping on the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal and in the port docks. For this purpose, use is made of the ENIGMA port information system. This acronym stands for Electronic Network for Information in the Ghent Maritime Area.

All vessels arriving at or leaving the port of Ghent have to report electronically through ENIGMA. Not only the vessel data but also voyage and cargo data are registered. Based on these data among other things the port dues are calculated according to the tariff regulations.

ENIGMA is also a communication system between the various port users and is used to order pilots, boatmen, tugboats and other services.

Professional users of ENIGMA who already have an account can log in via the following website: www.enigmagent.com. This can also be done via the 'Enigma' button left at the top of port of Ghent’s website.
