2010 is a record year for port of Ghent

In 2010 port of Ghent experienced a growth of almost one third of its total cargo transhipment as against 2009. With a total of 48 million tonnes Ghent leaves the crisis year 2009 far behind. Both the seaborne cargo traffic (+31%) and the inland navigation traffic (+25%) record growth figures that have never been witnessed before. Also the goods exports registered a record and moreover, the diversity of the port shows to be a major trump card for recording more transhipment. With one million tonnes more traffic in 2010 Ghent at the same time also exceeds the record year 2008. Consequently, port of Ghent is one of the fastest growing ports in Western Europe, assumes Ghent Port Company.
